Gorillas, a rapid grocery delivery service, is celebrating its first anniversary in the U.S.
Since its May 2021 launch, the business has grown at breakneck momentum, paralleling the rapid growth of the larger rapid delivery industry.
The company offers as many as 90 stock-keeping units of fresh produce as well as more than 2,000 other grocery products, available to the app’s users in minutes at their New York City doorsteps.
Gorillas' first year in the U.S. includes introducing:
- 22 warehouses in New York City.
- Partnerships with 70 local businesses including Bowery Farming.
- Activations increasing convenience through brands like Wellory and Thousand Fell, in turn encouraging customers to eat and consume healthily and sustainably.
- Key initiatives, including the launch of Pedal Records, its own record label for employees, and achieving carbon neutrality, becoming the first climate-neutral company in quick commerce.
- Several key U.S. hires, including Alex Gabriel, senior manager of public affairs.
For its anniversary campaign, Whatever New York Wants, Gorillas unveiled a stunt in which six users were able to order any item under $300 for delivery in minutes. The company also analyzed order behavior of customers in the U.S. and worldwide through a digest of app data.
Started in Berlin, the company celebrated its global two-year anniversary, as well.
