Three key pillars are the focus of the new concept from West Sacramento, Calif.-based Raley’s Family of Fine Stores: Organic, Nutrition and Education.
They’re also incorporated in the banners name, 5-ONE-5, a play on the area code for the Sacramento area.
The new store in the R Street District in downtown Sacramento held its grand opening May 15.
“Market 5-ONE-5, and what it stands for, has been a vision of ours for a long time,” said Michael Teel, owner, in a news release. “Its purpose is to offer our community access to fresh, nutritious and affordable food. Its mission is to help people live healthy, vital lives by taking the guesswork out of understanding nutrition.”
Raley’s hopes to do that through stocking shelves with items that “meet the highest standards of health and nutrition” set according to the Market 5-ONE-5 brand promise: minimally processed, organic and sustainably sourced.
A full list of the store’s standards can be found here.
The store features experts, including chefs, “foodies,” urban farmers, nutritionists and a Registered Dietitian to offer guidance, knowledge and expertise on food and nutrition.
Raley’s also plans to donate a portion of eligible purchases to charity through its One Community program, according to a news release.
