Stemilt Growers, Wenatchee, Wash., is offering its Apple Lover's 5-pound bag with special branding for St. Patrick's Day promotions.
The company has decorative leprechaun stickers to help retailers promote the bagged green apples, but there are bulk opportunities as well, says Roger Pepperl, marketing director.
Thanks to weather and crop conditions, large size (72 and up) Granny Smith apples are plentiful for promotions.
“Sizing up is one of the easiest ways to drive sales in the category, as people tend to purchase the same number of apples when buying bulk, but will be purchasing more weight because of the larger fruit size,” he says, in a news release. “Bulk accounts for more than 64% of all apple sales, and must be a focus as we head into the springtime.”
