Fresh potato grower and packager MountainKing says it is readying supplies of its petite varieties for the upcoming crawfish season, which is expected to ramp up a bit later than usual due to supply challenges caused by months of high temperatures.
The Houston-based company also plans to share how-to videos to help shoppers get the most out of springtime celebrations, according to a news release.
MountainKing will again offer to retailers 3-pound bags of its Crawfish B-Red potatoes, 3-pound Crawfish Medley Pack and 3-pound Crawfish Gold Pack. Each is ideal for backyard gatherings and large, multiday festivals, the company said.
“Our production levels look very strong, and we’re looking forward to a strong season,” Andreas Trettin, MountainKing director of marketing, said in the release.
MountainKing’s pre-sized petite potatoes, with their waxy texture and high moisture content, are known for maintaining their shape even after boiling, making them ideal for crawfish celebrations, Trettin said.
All three crawfish packs are packaged in mesh bags that can be dropped into a pot without removing the product from the bag, according to the release. The boil-in-bag feature also keeps the petite-sized potatoes separated from other ingredients.
Retail grocer POS support for MountainKing’s Red, Gold and Medley Crawfish Packs includes high-graphic half-size bins, custom display signage and optional display sleeves for secondary displays; collaborative social media support also is available, the release said.
MountainKing said 50-pound sacks and graphic table tent cards are available for foodservice operations.
