Minneapolis-based Metro Produce Distributors Inc. is voluntarily recalling all Lunds & Byerlys fresh guacamole products with a use-by date of Aug. 2, 2024, due to a potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, according to a company announcement through the Food and Drug Administration.

No confirmed illnesses had been reported at the time of the announcement, the company said.

Metro Produce Distributors said it initiated the recall following a routine sample that showed finished products could potentially contain the bacteria. Metro Produce Distributors ceased production and distribution of the products as part of a continued investigation.

The fresh guacamole was sold at Lunds & Byerlys grocery stores throughout the Twin Cities area and St. Cloud in Minnesota, according to the announcement, which added that the product was also available in select locations of Taco Mas food bars from July 27-31. The products are packaged in clear plastic containers.

Products involved in the recall are:

  • Lunds & Byerlys 14-ounce fresh guacamole with a use-by date of Aug. 2.
  • Lunds & Byerlys 10-ounce fresh smokin’ guacamole with a use-by date of Aug. 2.
  • Lunds & Byerlys 10-ounce fresh spicy guacamole with a use-by date of Aug. 2.
  • Lunds & Byerlys 18-ounce pico de gallo/guacamole tray with a use-by date of Aug. 2.
