After a successful roll-out with Detroit-area stores, Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Meijer plans to expand its home delivery program to a six-state area.
The company uses Shipt, a membership-based third party service that charges annually or monthly. For a $99/year fee, Shipt members get unlimited grocery deliveries on orders over $35.
Meijer offers 55,000 items for delivery, including fresh produce. Customers order through the Shipt smartphone app or through shipt.com, for deliveries as soon as an hour later, seven days a week.
The expansion is expected to kick off March 29 in Grand Rapids and in mid-April for other markets.
Since September 2016, Shipt members placed more than 65,000 Meijer online orders for delivery.
