Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Meijer is the latest to add the Misfits line of “cosmetically-challenged” produce.
Offered at a reduced price from Eden Prairie, Minn.-based Robinson Fresh, Misfits rolled out to 235 Meijer locations in early September, according to a news release.
The line includes seasonally-available items like apples, bell peppers, lemons, limes and sweet potatoes.
According to the release, Meijer is offering Misfits at a discount of 20 to 40 percent, based on availability.
Earlier this summer, Schenectady, N.Y.-based Price Chopper and Market 32 stores began offering Misfits, as do St. Cloud, Minn.-based Coborn’s and West Des Moines, Iowa-based Hy-Vee Inc. stores.
In June, Hy-Vee said it had sold more than one million pounds of Misfits since it added the program in the fall.
