The New Mexico Farmers’ Marketing Association and Fair Food Network are working with select Lowe’s Market grocery stores in New Mexico to help low income shoppers buy more local produce.

The Double Up Food Bucks Program provides Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program customers with dollar to dollar matches of New Mexico-grown fresh produce, according to a news release.

The program will start in Lowe’s stores in Albequerque and Santa Fe, but could expand into other stores, said Denise Miller, executive director of the New Mexico Farmers’ Marketing Association, Santa Fe.

Last year, the organization was granted $2.1 million from a four-year Double Up Food Bucks program, according to the release.
