Get ready for your close up, produce managers. Now is your time to shine.
Love Your Produce Manager Day, officially recognized on Chase’s Calendar of Events, is coming up on April 2 – the day after Easter and Passover, some of the busiest promotion days for retailers.
Frieda’s Specialty Produce, Los Alamitos, Calif., created the holiday on its 50th anniversary in 2012 to honor produce managers for “exemplary service and dedication to their craft,” according to a news release.
“The produce department is the center of a supermarket now more than ever, and the produce managers work hard to build beautiful displays, keep products in stock, and inspire new food experiences for shoppers every day,” said Alex Jackson Berkley, assistant sales manager at Frieda’s, in a news release. “As a company that got our start because of produce managers calling and asking for our unusual fruits and vegetables, we know that they are as passionate about their jobs as we are.”
Frieda’s plans to share the love for Love Your Produce Manager Day by making a donation to Second harvest Food Bank of Orange County for every #LYPM hashtag or social media mention of the holiday. More than 30 produce organizations and professionals participated in 2017.
But wait, there’s more!
Frieda’s is expanding the promotion to include a social media giveaway March 26 through April 3. Shoppers can share selfies with their local supermarket produce managers and hashtag #LYPM for a chance to win prizes.
