The Fresno-based California Table Grape Commission was established by the state legislature in 1967 and approved by a grape grower referendum in 1968.
Grape merchandising has come a long way in the past 50 years. Shippers and merchandisers were trying new packaging concepts, including overwrapped trays and net bags, while the bulk of product was sold in loose bunches.
