List ranks America's Best Grocery Stores

List ranks America's Best Grocery Stores

by Pamela Riemenschneider, Jan 24, 2017

I’m not sure who was involved in compiling this list, or the criteria they’re using, but here’s another list of the top grocery stores in the U.S.

Whole Foods Market Inc. came out on top of the list of 25 of America’s Best Grocery Stores 2017, published by The Daily Meal, a tronc Inc. blog. Whole Foods was chosen because of its recent price investment strategy, coupled with high quality foods. No. 2 went to Trader Joe’s.

Overall, I thought the list had a lot of winners – a lot of my “bucket list” favorites, like The Berkeley Bowl Marketplace (#8) and Jungle Jim’s International Market (#6), but the order had me scratching my head a little.

One shocker: Rochester, N.Y.-based Wegmans – one of the highest rated grocery chains in the U.S. – was relegated to No. 15 while Wal-Mart Stores Inc.’s Supercenter format was listed at No. 3.

See the full list, with explanations, here.
