Cincinnati-based Kroger Co. says its organic produce sales now exceed $1 billion in annual sales.

The company shared this fact, along with its top organic items, in a news release supporting its Restock Kroger plan.

“We know our customers want both organic and conventional choices,” said Robert Clark, senior vice president of merchandising, in a news release. “Kroger makes it easy for our customers to shop how they want for their families. It's just one more way we are redefining the Kroger customer experience as outlined in our Restock Kroger plan.”

Clark said Kroger works with more than 300 organic growers every year.

The company also said its top-selling organic produce items include:

  • Bananas
  • Apples
  • Strawberries
  • Blackberries
  • Blueberries
  • Bagged salad
