U.S. consumers enjoy fresh blueberries year-round thanks to well-established trade with South American producers. Chile, our primary import provider, accounted for 52.7% of fresh cultivated blueberries over the past five years, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Since 2013, however, Mexico, Argentina and Peru significantly ramped up exports to the U.S. Argentina is up 35% from 2013 to 2017, Uruguay is up 46% and Mexico is up 414%.

But the real winner is Peru, with U.S. imports from that country up 3,971% from 2013 to 2017.

Overall, imports are up 44%.
