San Antonio-based H.E. Butt Co. is the latest retailer to ramp up delivery by purchasing a third party provider.
The company is reportedly buying Favor Delivery, an Austin-based app service that works with more than 50,000 third-party “runners,” delivering take-out from restaurants, groceries and more.
Financials were not disclosed, according to an article in the Austin American-Statesman.
H-E-B, which has close to 400 stores, currently offers delivery in some 73 markets, both in-house and via third party providers including Shipt and Instacart.
The company isn’t the first to buy a third party delivery service recently. Minneapolis-based Target Corp. purchased San Francisco-based Shipt and started expanding delivery early this year.
It is unclear whether H-E-B will continue to use other third-party delivery services, or if it will transfer all of that business to Favor.
