No. 3 item consumers said they buy now that they did not buy previously. They're the No. 5 vegetable in the Fresh Trends survey, a spot they've held for six years running.
Ad trends for bell peppers favor fruit sold by the each, in both red and green varieties. Red bell peppers, however, are far more commonly promoted than their less expensive cousin. An average of 5,200 stores per week promoted red bell peppers from January to December 2016, compared to 3780 stores with green bell peppers on ad.
