Enjoy some barbecued meats and crisp, fresh, juicy New Jersey-grown produce at the annual barbecue event hosted by Eastern Produce Council.
The event, which features other locally sourced food and drinks, will start at 6 p.m. May 23, at Demarest Farm in Hillsdale, N.J., beginning with cocktail hour, a barbecue dinner and meeting with several presentations.
The annual event typically draws more than 100 people, from growers, brokers and shippers to marketers, wholesalers and retailers.
The evening includes a scholarship award presentation to a member’s child. There are also crop and market updates from leaders of several produce organizations representing commodities such as peaches and blueberries.
EPC hosts several events throughout the year, culminating in the New York Produce Show in Manhattan, N.Y., in December.
