After much speculation about the future of its subscription meal kit service, Blue Apron Holdings Inc. has found a home at Costco Wholesale.
The New York-based meal kit service began selling meal kits at 17 Costco stores in San Francisco and the Pacific Northwest, in late April, according to an article in the Wall Street Journal.
The company told the journal it hopes to expand to more stores.
“Obviously this is up to us,” he told the WSJ. “It depends on our success in stores.”
Meal kits are $24.99 at Costco, about $6.25 a serving.
The company said it is in talks with other retailers, as well.
Retailers such as Kroger, Albertsons, Amazon, Walmart and Peapod sell their own brand of meal kits, and subscription service kit provider Chef’d has deals with several chains, with hopes to be in 1,000 stores by the end of the year.
