Just a day after Ian McLeod of Southeastern Grocers announced his resignation, The Fresh Market also is down a CEO.
Rick Anicetti, who had been CEO since September 2015, announced his resignation on June 20. He previously served as president and CEO of Food Lion LLC, and was a board member of Number Holdings Inc., the parent company of 99 Cents Only Stores LLC, and Smart & Final Stores Inc.
Greensboro, N.C.-based The Fresh Market said in a news release that its chief financial officer, Brian Nicholson, is interim CEO effective immediately.
Southeastern Grocers, based in Jacksonville, appointed Anthony Hucker, the company’s chief operating officer, interim president and CEO.
“We are also grateful for Ian’s stewardship of the business during his tenure,” the company said in a news release. “Under Ian’s direction, Southeastern Grocers has made substantial progress on our transformation plan and established great momentum.”
McLeod alluded to a new position in a statement, but did not elaborate.
“It has been a difficult decision to leave my role as president and CEO of Southeastern Grocers, but I believe the new position will be a positive opportunity for me and in the best interests of my family,” he said, in a statement. “I have tremendous confidence in Anthony and the rest of the leadership team and I know that I’m leaving Southeastern Grocers in good hands.”
