The Center for Produce Safety has published its key insights from 2024 research.
This year's CPS Research Symposium showcased 15 projects addressing key food safety priorities; the two-page highlight report and the full report are available on the group’s website, according to a news release.
CPS said research results that deserve immediate action from food safety professionals include:
- Understanding the biology of birds can lead to improved risk management strategies.
- If cleaning and sanitizing facilities and equipment, do it right.
- Strict temperature control across the entire supply chain is important.
- When testing human pathogens, make sure the lab is enriching the samples properly.
- Scientists are getting closer to fast, reliable detection of Cyclospora.
- Zero Valent Iron, Shotgun Metagenomics, Chemical fingerprint and aptamer.
- Cleaning and sanitation — listeria-specific bacteriophages and super-heated steam.
