The Food and Drug Administration said in a news release that the salmonella outbreak traced to imported cantaloupe from Mexico has now sickened 230 people in 38 states.

The FDA also expanded its recall of fresh-cut and whole cantaloupe again, this time adding Cut Fruit Express Caribou Coffee Fruit Mix CHPG 6.5-ounce and Cut Fruit Express-brand of 6.5-, 15-, 16- and 32-ounce packages of fruit mix containing cantaloupes. This recall also includes foodservice packages of cantaloupe chunks and fruit mixes containing cantaloupe.

The FDA said that based on epidemiological data collected by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 78 of 105 cases reported exposure to cantaloupe and 42 people reported eating pre-cut cantaloupe.
