San Francisco-based Afresh Technologies and Portland, Ore.-based New Seasons Market have partnered to bring Afresh’s Fresh Operating System into select retail stores in the Pacific Northwest.
The partnership should aid New Seasons Market reduce complexity within its stores, maximize produce operations and boost sales, according to a news release.
New Seasons Market will pilot Afresh software through 2022, according to the release. The pilot should lead to significant reductions in food waste, an increase of in-stock rates and increase operating margins, according to the release.
Stores employing Afresh, according to the release, have cut food waste by 25%, minimized out of stocks by 80% and increased sales by an average of 3% month over month.
“Partnering with Afresh enables us to further these goals with technology that makes our food fresher and less wasteful,” Nancy Lebold, CEO of New Seasons Market, said in the release. “I’m excited for the game-changing impact Afresh will have on our bottom line, on the customers we serve, and on our sustainability.”
Through its AI-driven approach built specifically for fresh, Afresh will help New Seasons Market transform its fresh departments, Matt Schwartz, CEO and co-founder of Afresh, said in the release.
