In 1903, Dutch immigrant Bartele Zandstra began farming vegetables in Highland. The business was passed on to three of his sons and in turn to two of his grandsons, current owners Arnold (Butch) and Nick. In 1990, they began operating a bedding plant nursery and greenhouse in addition to the vegetable farm and roadside market.
The current greenhouse on Kennedy Avenue is exactly one half mile east of the original location. Zandstra's Farm has been growing in Highland, Indiana, for more than 100 years and is now one of the largest greenhouses in Northwest Indiana with more than 2 acres (90,000+ sq. ft.) of shopping/growing space and a wide variety of flowers for your home or business. As a fully certified Proven Winners Garden Center, we are leaders in the latest plants and technology, but as a family owned and operated greenhouse, also provide personal services such as custom plantings in any size container and a helpful, knowledgeable staff to answer your gardening questions.
For more than a century, our family has maintained a dedication to quality growing and quality service. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
