Our farming background started at this Farm when Duane's Grandpa Clyde and Duane's Father Julius purchased the land where Duane and his family now live. For many years, the Farm produced Hybrid Seed Corn and sold to other Seed Companies as parent seed as well as seed to farmers. Clyde had attended Iowa State and majored in Agronomy with a minor in Horticulture. Duane's dad graduated in Agronomy from Iowa State and Duane graduated in Farm Operations from Iowa State. For years, the Fam operated as a family farm growing Seed Corn, Seed Oats, Seed Beans, and raising pigs. This was accomplished with the help of Duane's 2 brothers.
Over the years, things progressed and changes were made. Duane with the help of his wife, Norine decided to branch out and grow sweet corn. When Duane and Norine's sons came along they would help out selling sweet corn by pulling their little red wagon filled with sweet corn down the street selling to the neighbors. They would also help at the Farmers' Markets.
They did that for several years and then added a Pick your own Pumpkin Patch where families would bring the kids out and pick a pumpkin from the field. Eventually a full line of vegetables was added and they attended more Farmers' Markets. For a few years only sweet corn and pumpkins were planted. In 2020 with Covid-19 upon us it was decided to again grow a full line to meet the demands for people wanting to buy local and stay safe. Although our sons Chad and Ward don't help daily on the Farm, they contribute to the Family Farm.
We are a conventional Farm and follow natural practices. Our family enjoys working the land and producing healthy local grown food for our customers.
