The Society of St. Andrew is a 40-year old, nationwide, faith-based hunger relief nonprofit organization. We work with farmers, packers, and distributors to acquire excess and unmarketable produce, that we share immediately with direct-service feeding agencies, usually within 50-100 miles of where the food was grown or acquired. The food you share is often on the table of a hungry family within 24-48 hours of harvest. The hallmark of our operation is that we work with you in whatever way is easiest for you -- we want it to be as easy to donate food you can't sell as it would be for you to leave it to rot in the field or tip it into a landfill. We will send food-safety trained volunteer gleaners to pick, dig, or gather food remaining in the field, or we'll send trucks (to your specs and at the time you tell us) to pick up culls and gradeouts or even full loads of produce you have no market for. We provide detailed receipting for your donation, that you may be able use to claim a tax credit or deduction. Our proprietary database allows complete traceability of product from farm to receiving agency. You want the food you grow to be eaten; we help you do the most good with the food you can't sell by sharing it free of charge with people in this country in the greatest need.
