Here are just a few quick notes on us: Dr. Ron Jones, the CEO and developer of Produce Magic Software (PM), grew up working his early years (and through college) with his father, a CPA in Idaho. He graduated with a DDS from BYU and University of Nebraska. He owned a large corporation for Dentistry in Boise but soon found the passion for computers and programming, like the proverbial ‘water to a duck’. Still a young man, he bought a large chain of computer stores in Idaho in the late 1970's called Computer Concepts. For large Banking contracts, he and his team (all certified techs) put in large networks throughout the State and found a great need for fresh produce accounting and tracking software. Produce Magic Software (PM) started being developed in 1980. By the early 1980's, the basic PM was created and then in place by 1983. We incorporated in 1986 as Advanced Technology Marketing, Inc. As of last January, we are in our 32nd year. Ron heads up a great knowledgeable team of senior-level programmers and many more are available if we have needs to “ramp up” for any period of time. Produce Magic Software is our Brand.
Violet Kiss’s background began right after college at a large commercial bakery in Detroit, FarmCrest Bakeries, which was like Entemann’s of today. She was their Senior Cost Accountant and computerized their entire cost department which took about 1.5 years back in the 1970’s with the large Honeywells. After working at the family business with her father, a multi-degreed Engineer, Violet started her own manufacturing representative company working with the Big 3 and Tier 1’s in Detroit with hand tools and their accessories. She also owned a General Insurance Agency for 22 years. She received steep education in warehousing, kaizan, and blackbelt over those early years through the 1990’s. Knowing the changes to come in the automotive, Violet moved west and has been with Produce Magic for 17 years and took over the CFO, Sales and Marketing responsibilities as well. She is the other principal of PM.
Darla P. Tashima is our Senior Manager over Training and Support. You will see her knowledge of produce and Produce Magic Software when you speak with her and at the demos. She came to us quite young about 18-19 years ago when her company, our customer, a large organic Herb company, moved out of California as she did not want to move. Darla was a Product Manager there and helped us further develop our Bill of Materials features early on. With all of these years with our software, Darla is highly regarded as a consultant-level manager and knows every part of our software and certainly knows produce and their issues. She heads up our San Diego support and training office.
All of our employees know and/or are from the Produce/Perishable Industry so you do not have to pay us for a 'learning curve'. We understand Produce and its problems, you just have to tell us the specific issue you are having, and we will show you how to take care of it in our software. If it is a brand new situation and you need customizing, we will quote you a flat rate and time period for the programming completion. Since we do not use typical computer codes but instead hierarchical logic (3rd generation rapid development) you can be assured of the speed in our work and, therefore, its cost-efficiency. The total time and speed of completion from start to error-checking is substantially less than typical computer languages. Yes, our software language is a Microsoft Partner. We give you the new programs immediately, no waiting.
For emergencies, we are always 365/24/7 for our customers no matter the time of day, or evening (smile). We always are one-on-one with our customers, no matter how large, or small. We only work in the Produce and Perishable Industry. There are over 1.7 million features today (and constantly adding) in our software due to the ‘ever-changing’ laws, regulations, and new ideas for these industries.
