The Yaros family began farming operations over 100 years ago, in the farming community of South Brunswick Township, New Jersey.
My Great-Grandfather, Grandfather, and Father were awesome potato, and vegetable farmers. I am fortunate to have inherited their love of farming the land. My father John, grew up on the family farm, as well as my brother Stephen and I. We helped our father, mother, uncles, and aunts, in the fields, every summer and after school.
We farmed potatoes, and a variety of vegetables for sale at our road side stand, or the fresh market, to which my father John, and mother Kathleen, would transport our freshly harvested produce, into the New York, and Philadelphia markets.
Unfortunately, the rapid growth of business and the development of bedroom communities began the slow take over of the once vibrant South Brunswick farming community. In 1989, my father, mother and I made the painful decision to pack up 100 years of Yaros Farms farming operations, and move it to Cape Charles, Virginia, located on the beautiful Eastern Shore.
We farm over 3000 acres at the very tip end of the Eastern Shore, in the sleepy village of Cheapside. It is here, on the Eastern Shore, where I am able to continue the time honored tradition of farming the land, passed down to me through four generations.
I now have sons of my own, and hope to cement our family's future in the agriculture business for many more generations to come.
