Blaine and Paulene Hartley started Blaine Hartley, Inc. Blaine had worked in the produce industry for over thirteen years prior to starting this new venture. The company came together as a result of the hard work, enthusiasm, and the support of many family members and customers.
In the first two years of operation the company survived fierce competition and a fire that destroyed the warehouse. Once again, thanks to the tremendous support from family, friends, and customers, the business kept growing. Hartley’s has always focused on customer service and doing whatever it takes to make the customer happy. Hartley’s does everything from delivering one box of limes to brokering an entire semi-load of potatoes.
The company has continued to grow over the years, adding new personnel as needed. In 1983, Trent B. Hartley (Blaine’s son) joined the company, and in 1985, Robert Kidd (Paulene’s brother) joined the company as warehouse foreman. Ricky Clark and Mike Gorder also joined the company in 1984 and 1985, respectively. In 1997, as a result of increased business, Hartley’s found it necessary to design and build a new warehouse at their current location 2323 W. Directors Row (1100 South). The new building gave Hartley’s the opportunity to grow and take care of their customers better than ever before. Today Hartley’s continues to sell and provide many services to our customers.
