Four generations of Moore farmers have worked these fields and we aren't stopping anytime soon. Moore Family Farms was founded in 1920 when Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Corley and Annie Moore homesteaded just southwest of Dalhart, Texas. Despite the hard conditions of the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl, the Moores worked hard to support their 13 children. During his first years of farming, Mr. Moore mainly grew wheat and raised cattle & pigs.
After World War II, Bill Moore, the youngest of 13 children, returned home to continue the family tradition. He married Earleen, and together they purchased a farm east of Dalhart. Throughout the following 40 years, the farm began to see more diversification. With the help of his son, David, Bill farmed wheat, sunflowers, milo, corn, alfalfa, and watermelons.
