This family-owned and operated certified organic farm is located in a secluded canyon outside of Leavenworth, WA on the eastern slopes of the Cascades. The 40-acre farm includes 8 gardens, 5 acres of fruit orchard, pastures, a mix of animals, and a tree farm. Crops include hay, grains, berries, herbs, and a wide variety of vegetables. The Gibbses grow many heirloom varieties of apples, pears, and cherries, and also raise cattle, hogs, chickens, and turkeys. Gibbs Organic Produce provides high quality organic goods to local customers at farmers markets, CSA programs, local restaurants, and food co-ops.
The Gibbs Farm manages all aspects of its fields, woods and streams as a single integrated system, or permaculture. Permaculture farming views all parts of a farm's animals, natural resources, crops, and human dwellings and activities as components of a single ecosystem. The farm's health and productivity depends on managing the complex interrelationships within it. With over 30 years of diversified organic farming experience, Grant Gibbs has created an inspiring example of healthy, sustainable, and eco-friendly land management. Presently, Grant's main focuses are growing grains (for animal feed, seed, and human consumption), the orchard, animals, and mechanics. His daughter-in-law, Danielle Gibbs, now manages the marketing and veggie/herb/berry gardens.
