Good Earth got its start in 1973 when Ken and Rae Howard, along with Rae’s mother, Dr. Ann Geaslin, decided that their commitment to health outweighed their lack of business experience and opened a small store in Provo. Ken and Rae’s daughter, Rachel, and her husband Todd, shared Good Earth’s growing vision, and together they brought the family’s passion for health to Midvale, Utah, where a Good Earth was opened in 1989. The Orem store followed in 1996. In 2000, Rachel’s brother, Scott, joined the family partnership and together they opened the Riverdale store in 2001. The Midvale store was then moved to its beautiful new Sandy location in 2004. Following that, the American Fork store was built in 2007, and at the end of 2014 the Provo store was moved to its new location in Spanish Fork.
Through the years, Ken and Rae were active in the fight to retain access to natural health products and information, and their efforts took them to the forefront of the political arena in Utah and nationally. In early 2014, our Good Earth family and story changed with the passing of both Ken and Rae, but their vision lives on in each of us! While many people have joined the natural food industry primarily for economic reasons, the Good Earth family joined this industry because of our mission to empower and educate the individual – one person at a time.
