The farm, “Los Leones” is in Palora, also known as the “Eden of the Amazon,” in the province of Morona Santiago, Ecuador. More than 50% of the territory of Palora is part of the Sangay National Park, a protected area, and a natural setting that allows for the appreciation of a great diversity of flora and fauna, as well as waterfalls, lagoons, and rivers.
“Finca Leones” is our family farm located in the Ecuadorian Amazon that produces Pitahaya fleshy, sweet and unique, which characteristics are not found anywhere else in the world.
Doña María is the family pioneer who started cultivating pitahaya and gave each of her eight children 3.5 hectares . She raised her children here, worked the land and continues to live on the farm.
The siblings, inspired by their 70-year-old mother, now have 17 hectares (42 Acres) of pitahaya in production and 6 hectares (15 Acres) planted, which guarantee the capability to offer over 200,000 KG year of a yellow pitahaya.
In early 2019, the farm “Los Leones” built a modern packing facility and established our export operation, which meets the highest standards established by AGROCALIDAD the Ecuadorian government regulatory agency. We are an FDA foreign registered packing facility.
Los Leones has also established Frexotic Inc in the United States to serve as the importing and distribution arm of its Palora Yellow Dragon Fruit. Frexotic Inc is 100% minority owned (51% women owned).
